Attic Theory – Your Light - Single Review - 10 September 2020

There exists, a landmass situated between hard rock and heavy metal. Seldom do bands land safely, but fortunately for us, Attic Theory get it right. ‘Your Light’ is a slow burner, an ardent track that packs a punch.

The song begins with some gentle chords, soft vocals and heartfelt lyrics but then quickly nosedives into heavy guitars and huge drums. Frontman Lewis Wright delivers his best Corey Taylor/Miles Kennedy. His voice wraps around the solid riffs made by Mr Tim Cunningham, Matt Lawler and Peter Donnelly. Kudos should also be given to bassist Kenny McArthur and drummer Matt Simon, as both lads give this tune the full whack.

This is the kind of tune what would suit an Avengers showdown. But at the same time, one could imagine hearing this being played out from an old jukebox on Route 66. ‘Your Light’ will no doubt appeal to fans on both sides of modern metal, but I suspect even the hard-rockers will dig this track too.

Your light is a single from Attic Theory’s new album 'The Sign of An Active Mind’.
