Gig Review: She’s in the Trees at Round the Corner, Liverpool - Thursday 25 September 2022

Last Stop Sounds

Formed by Amy Scott-Samuel in Spain and fleshed out in Liverpool after repeated visits and a recruitment drive that got in some of the Liverpool music scenes luminaries, She’s in the Trees have their first gig tonight at Round the Corner - a venue in Liverpools ‘just about being discovered’ Fabric Quarter (or behind the old TJ Hughes shop to the rest of us).

It's a cool place with a semi covered outside area and a bar and venue inside. Its small and tonight crowded for a Liverpool psychedelic Society event.

The lights are low and colourful and somewhat psych and the band are in near darkness as they set up. There’s acoustic and electric guitars and a violin amongst the various instruments used. The music is folky, with a hint of the alternative and even Appalachian in it. A set of talented musicians giving Amy’s songs form. Its Amy’s voice that breathes life into them though. It’s a room filler of a voice, big and passionate. They produce a performance that highlights the emotional content of many of the tracks and sheer quality of the songwriting. Atmospheric and emotive and extremely melodic.
