Nosebleed, Make Up Your Mind single and video review - 10 January 2021

Nosebleed have been doing the rounds on the punkier end of the gig circuit for a few years and always produce a fantastic high velocity show that tends to leave the stage and involve the audience.

They tell us that this single was recorded in their hometown of Leeds at Nave Studio and produced by Andy Hawkins sometime ago but the release was held up due the Covid pandemic.

The song begins with an insistent and very catchy riff. Its almost low key (for Nosebleed anyway) at first but the song keeps building up in intensity. The low growled vocals and backing chant and sharp drums make it instantly likeable. They control the pace bringing it all up for the chant along chorus and suddenly dropping it back down into the verse. For no real reason I can think of I was reminded a bit of 60s Motown releases, it has that kind of groove and infectiousness to it.

Then its hits full speed with guest guitarist Tom Q Cusic bringing in a sudden guitar solo from hell. It’s a short bursts of adrenalised 6 string Wah pedal heroics that lifts this song into a new level. The musical equivalent of hanging on for dear life to an old Triumph Bonneville on a bumpy and twisty B-Road as the speedo registers the ton.

The video was filmed on the North York Moors at Buttertubs on a freezing November afternoon and is a dark but humorous thing with the band looking smartly besuited.

This will be the first single off their upcoming album Dance With The Devil which was due for release last year but was postponed due to Covid.
