The Mighty Bossmags - Shapeshifters Single Review - 30 March 2021

Updated: Mar 30, 2021

The circus is back in town, fully attired in Pirate gear and brandishing cutlasses at the hidden enemy, the reptilian rulers of our worlds. In a shock revelation the Bossmags have discovered that David Icke was right (though Ike’s comment when the truth was revealed: ’shit, they’re real’ doesn’t inspire confidence) and this single release is their first broadside in their war to use music to free the world from the lizard grip. Well this is what the press release says.

The track bounces in on a crashing drum roll and nails its flag to the mast. This is an electro ska rhythm fest with more than just a hint of the Sensational Alex Harvey Band about it. Singer Bobby growls his way (pirate style) through the dense electronics and sharp ska sounds with snakey guitars and roaring blasts of horns paving the way.

A musical extravaganza, I’m sure I heard a kitchen sink being played in there. Great fun and live it’ll definitely keep peoples feet moving, the single already has a live feel to it. A boss concoction of constantly moving musical goalposts, fascinating and entertaining and making me want gigs back so we can all jump around again.

Shapeshifters is released tomorrow (see links below) with some truly fantastic cover art (pictured) 31 March 2021.

All hail the (anti) Lizard Kings!
